¶ And after [a]forty years, Absalom said unto the King, I pray thee, let me go to Hebron, and render my vow which I have vowed unto the Lord.

For thy servant vowed a vow when I remained at Geshur, in Aram, saying, If the Lord shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, I will [b]serve the Lord.

And the King said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron.
